Lahaina Sunset

Oil Painting 16x20

While on vacation in Maui, I happen to capture this stunning sunset in the town of Lahaina. Most of my paintings seem to be landscapes, either on purpose or by coincidence. I figure that I enjoy that style the most, possibly because it reflects the most beauty from the world.

Hummingbird

Oil Painting 12x24

Another work with an animal subject. This was started and then finished after a long period.

Sea Turtle

Oil Painting 16x20

I rarely draw animals and never underwater, so this cut-away scene from sky to sea was definitely a challenge. I relied on the inspiration of other artists, such as Wyland, to capture the right impression.

Black Rose

Adobe Photoshop Illustration

I usually do a lot of coloring in Photoshop from inked drawings that were scanned. This image is the only work I've done entirely in Photoshop alone. I completed it with a very large resolution and quite a number layers. The picture represents a mixture of the Japanese anime style with the pop-culture fashion of the "Lolita" often seen in Tokyo.

Untitled Still Life I, II & III

Charcoal 18x24

These were all done along time ago in 2001 when I was still in art school in San Francisco. The main focus is correct perspective and realistic values of form. Using reflective objects is the most challenging.

Vinyard Hills

Watercolor 11x14

Another piece done from a photograph. Taken while driving through the Napa-Sonoma area along Hwy 12.

Beach and Cliffs

Watercolor 16x20

This was painted from a photograph taken at a beach in the Mackerricher State Park area in Fort Bragg, CA.
This was one of the most challenging and largest watercolor paintings I've done. Although the fundamentals of watercolors seems simple, the difficultly of not being able to paint over mistakes is the hardest part.
